About Alice in Blunderland: An Iridescent Dream

"Alice in Blunderland: An Iridescent Dream" by John Kendrick Bangs is a novel published in 1907. This political parody reimagines Lewis Carroll's classic Alice tales through a satirical lens, transporting Alice from Wonderland to "Blunderland"—also known as "Municipal Ownership Country." Here, familiar characters like the Mad Hatter and Cheshire Cat populate a world where the author critiques collectivism, taxation, corporate greed, and corruption. Children live in municipal houses with the Duchess and City as their parents, creating a topsy-turvy realm where nothing is as it should be.
