About Unveiling a Parallel: A Romance

"Unveiling a Parallel: A Romance" by Alice Ilgenfritz Jones and Ella Merchant is a feminist science fiction novel published in 1893. A male traveler journeys to Mars in an "aeroplane," discovering two contrasting societies where gender equality exists. In Paleveria, women have adopted negative masculine traits; in Caskia, equality has fostered kindness in both sexes. As the narrator encounters liberated Martian women and debates traditional gender roles, he must confront his own assumptions about femininity, society, and what true equality means.
