Languages spoken in Hawaii

Of 1,365,077 residents of Hawaii aged 5 and over, 336,810 (24.7%) speak a language other than English at home, and 144,945 (10.6%) speak English less than "very well".

The most common non-English language is Ilocano, Samoan, Hawaiian, or other Austronesian languages with 117,184 speakers, followed by Tagalog (incl. Filipino) (60,236).

Limited-English-proficiency counts are the best public proxy for local demand for interpreters and document translation in healthcare, courts, schools and social services.
