Languages spoken in New Mexico

Of 2,009,638 residents of New Mexico aged 5 and over, 629,876 (31.3%) speak a language other than English at home, and 180,595 (9.0%) speak English less than "very well".

The most common non-English language is Spanish with 491,462 speakers, followed by Navajo (57,560).

Limited-English-proficiency counts are the best public proxy for local demand for interpreters and document translation in healthcare, courts, schools and social services.
